I love Hurt/Comfort John Fic!

Where are all the good hurt/comfort John fic out there? I need more! Ever have a nagging feeling that you've read something somewhere before and then can't remember where you came upon it? Here's a collection of John Hurt/Comfort fics that I read over and over again.

I have an affinity for pain. That must be it. Otherwise, why would I be so interested in reading John hurt/comfort fiction. The following are my favorite stories in this genre.

Note that I am slowly restoring the dead or re-directed links to these stories. Many used to reside on Kansas and other Farscape Fanfiction sites that are defunct. I'll find them again somehow. Please be patient.

Kernelcrash has written a new angsty piece called Hush

imloco2 has written a wonderful episode 1 of Season 5 finding a unique solution to John and Aeryn's folger's crystals situation. I adored this story for its emotional realism and surprising twists. Here's Remember Me.

Aeryncrichton Writes a Fetal Attraction story that is both loving and angsty called Happy Faces.
Keozen has an interesting premise, sort of John in Groundhog Day mode due to an accident. Good voices in Amends.

Sarajane writes dark fic with a heart. Her latest epic deals with a terrible event and its repercussions on John and Aeryn's relationship. Read Coming Home and its sequel Right Turn Gets You Home.

This week is a ficathon that is producing some wonderful angsy stuff. The best is kind of dark.

Kixxa has written a tormented John, Aeryn, Baby, Chiana, and D'Argo fic called How They Fall.

Kixxa also wrote a tender moment story with John and D'Argo and the baby called Second Skin.

Christian Bauer a new writer creates a great and sad adventure story called No Serviceable Parts Inside that deals with mistakes and misunderstandings.

Reefrunner continues her saga begun with Honeymoon with two more stories. The third fict of the series is called Variations On A Theme.

Anna S. has a Terra Firma story (or really rumination) that goes deeplying into John's head and his anomie called The Farthest Way About.

KNS is wonderful at sussing the thoughts and mindset of Farscape characters. This story will rip your heart out. It is called Innocence. KNS has written a sequel called The End of Innocence.

Deneba Want to be scared and sad, and shivering? Read To Say Goodbye Again.

O2Difor has written her/his first story called Amendments set just after Taking the Stone. It tells a very difficult story (caution rape scenes) of John's budding relationship with Chiana.

Etheruk Has written an interesting premise: what if John was pregnant with Aeryn and his child? Read this on-going fic at, Back Together Again, Monkey See. Follow the Lady. Growing Up Is Hard To Do. Ghost of a Chance. Womb With A View.

Kernel Crash She continued the Birthright story recently with the entry called Tough Love.

Red is also slowly working on an epic "John reaches Earth" fiction called UFO. Each chapter gets more gripping in this saga.

Red who so gratiously shares space for Farscape blogs on Savefarscape.com has been writing an installment fic for months that is hilarious. So far there are 17 entries to this Tuesday Fic from current part to Part 1 (backwards).

LithiumDoll besides being a talented video artist, has written a gut-wrenching story of two Crichtons called Alter Idem: The Second Self. Lithium is building the story on a single thread to keep the parts together.

Kixxa has written a slam-bang Rygel/John fic that deals with freedom and its meanings called The Devil You Know

Blueaeryn surprises me with her depth. Here is a psychological story called Five Cents: The Doctor Is In, Part 1, Five Cents: The Doctor Is In, Part 2 The entire story is complete and is located at Five Cents: The Doctor Is In.

Crash has written a future fic about Jack and John called Birthright, Part 1, Birthright, Part 2, Birthright, Part 3, Birthright, Part 4, Birthright, Part 5, Birthright, Part 5-3/4.

Crash wrote an addendem to her wonderful fiction about Ian's younger days called Tough Love.

Kazbaby To Serve is an amazing gut-wrenching AU about John and Aeryn if Aeryn never left the PKs.

Another Kaz drabble has come in called Just Another Day that contains the ultimate Scorpius horror... (I'm grinning when I say this, but you will too when you read this). Kaz just finished a deeply dark fic called Promises Kept that is in three parts (and now a 4th since she revised her ending to make it more real (sigh):

Kazbaby Hi Sis! has begun a dark fiction that posits that Scorpy did not know the location of Katrazi. Kaz is doing me the honor of letting me beta this fiction. It is a difficult birth, but well worth the trouble.

Read her excellently written and plotted Harbringer of Sorrow, part 1, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 2, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 3, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 4, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 5.1, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 5.2, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 6, Harbringer of Sorrow, part 7 finale, Harbringer of Sorrow, Epilogue. The entire epic struggle can now be found on Leviathan at Harbringer of Sorrow.

Kaz does it again with a wild and whoolly tale that hypothesizes that Chiana and John never made it out of the game they played during John Quixote in Happy Birthday 2. This is a beautiful story of love Farscape style.

Speedbump Taking It Home is a wonderful John goes to earth in future story with much hurt/comfort. The other four parts are located on The Void under Speedbump. Can just reminded me of two more stories by Speedbump that take John to the depths and bring him back. De-Evolution and De-Evolution: The Resurrection of Man. In the story Enter Eternity, John after DMD. Very Dark. Speedbump also wrote a very epic story of Aeryn and John's time stuck on a planet taken over by peacekeepers that features a fascinating hive-like alien culture called Til Death. Another Speedbump story takes place early in John's time in the UTs and deals with his feelings of inadequacy and proving himself called Proving Ground.

One-eye DRD Perish Twice. What if John had something he didn't want to tell the crew? It's prequel (sequel) rewrite is even better.
No One Left Behind.

One-Eye reminds me of several more hurt/comfort fics: (What is it with these hurt/comfort things that attracts great writers? Is it the deep emotions or a sadomasochistic thing? I think writers are attracted to these plots because they
are a way to get into the minds of the characters at times of stress. I know that is why I read them so avidly.

Sweetthing has written a future fic about a down and out John based on Fractures called Without.

Cofax is a great writer of hurt/comfort fics. This one supposes both Johns and one Aeryn and what happens then? It is called Written on a Thumbnail.

Glass Shoe brings us Small Favors, a very dark post Fractures epic. She also wrote a John gets sick story that I like called Always Close Behind. I like Convergence for its use of Harvey and Chiana.

Wiscaper has a filler that won the 2001 Farscape Fanfic Award describing WGFA aftermath that I think is the best of its kind called In the Aftermath. (Part 2, Part 3).

Phil also writes an epilogue to WGFA called Epilogue to Won't Be Fooled Again (obvious title to a great story).

Lissa writes another John sick fic that is very gory called The Trouble with Humans.

D.M. Baird writes an AU that is fascinating called A Worm By Any Other Name.

Eloy Brightdreamer writes a mind frelling tale that I like called Guilty in Mind

Flintstriker has a great adventure hurt/comfort tale that like called Nurturing the Legend that has an interesting twist.

Anna Brill White wrote a post-Aurora chair fic with a different point of view called Between the Worlds. Anna also wrote a wonderful fic that takes place directly after Won't Get Fooled Again called The Toughest Battle.

Maayan has written many really dark John fic. Although she doesn't really like No Dominion, it is my favorite maybe because there is hope in the end. I also like the word pictures of Jigsaw Man. A very dark John fic has to be included here because it posits such a sad and horrendous end to John and Aeryn's relationship. Only Maayan could make this readable. It is called Black Ghosts.

Can has written three epic hurt/comfort John stories. The Price is enormous--a novel of 20 chapters. When You Least Expect It is post Fractures strong. Ripples in Time plays with your mind. When You Least Expect It Part 2 is not a sequel but a completely different story that takes off where the other one ended. Can has written a wonderfully evokative story about how John finally kicks the lakha habit and learns to trust again called Image in the Mirror.

Blighter has written a deeply hurt/comfort John story, One Good Day. Blighter wrote a sequel that is just as interesting called The Raven.

Debby A wrote this filler for Hidden Memory that adds much information about what could have happened to John as he came down from his Aurora Chair experience. Wayfarers in the Night.

Epona Harper adds to the "John Gets Sick" genre with In Sickness and in Health. I like this one because it is plausible.

Anne Hutchenson has a filler for DMD that is emotionallywrecking called Echoes.

Leathergirl writes angst fic with a psychological bent. One of my favorite stories is Mind Games about a season 2 John. Other stories are located at The Void.

Neuroscpr (Daniel Sanchez) wrote a two-parter about Aeryn's Post carus Abides relationship with MoyaJohn that is very good called The Mourning Process. Part 2, called No Easy Answers is a separate story and not a sequel, per se. Daniel is a great writer of John hurt/comfort fic and came up with a wrenching 2-parter, Duck and Cover, No More Dying.

Nerys wrote a Crichton goes home fic with a twist that I really like called That My Days Have Been a Dream. In addition, Nerys wrote the dark and worrisome Pre-DMD fiction called Mercy.

Stillwaters Happily Ever After is a very long, amazing AU that takes place as if John never got twinned. Stillwaters also has written a Season 2 concerning John's increasing instability called Victory: the Long Journey. I really like this fic although I caution it does deal with Suicide.

Analise has written the ultimate John goes home story with deep characterizations. Weight of the World is very moving. I also like the first two parts that she found unsatisfactory. Analise is the author of the first Farscape fic I ever read called One Split Second that caught me up and spit me out so that I was hooked on the genre.

Kernezelda and Officersun524 co-wrote a series of AU stories that supposed that John got captured by Grayza and stayed for 15 years. Very interesting premise carried out in team writing.

Kernezelda has written the ultimate dark John fic called Stepford Lies. I'm not sure it belongs here, but it is so frelling good, I had to include it. Beware, it just gets grimmer and grimmer. The twin piece to this story is called Stepford Life. Kernezelda also has written an excellent AU version of what happened during "We're So Screwed: La Bomba" called Future So Bright I Have To Wear Eye Shades that I really like for it's getting John's humor and mind frame during those episodes.

Crichton-Sun Productions has written a "John injured" fic called Fire and Ice that is very good at twisting your
emotions.

Anne Harrington (Annigmatic) wrote Return to Sender, an epic story of John from Season 2. I like how she writes a great John voice as well as Scorpious who is almost understandable as to his motivations. The rest of the parts are located on Redbeard's site under Anne Harrington's name but are also linked at the end of each chapter.

Diane Doty (jadecow14) has written an adventure story where John gets a gift he may not want, called The Gift.

Dustinian wrote a great adventure story that shows John at his best called Sacrifices (Part 2 is here and Part 3 is here).

Jintian has written what I think is a definitive vignette of how Stark helped John on the Gammak Base called Search For Signs in the Dark.

Sarajane has written an amazingly real future fic about John and Aeryn and the repercussions of secrets called Walk Down Memory Lane. Read it and weep.

Birthsister has written a definitive filler for Die Me Dichotomy called Recovery that is shattering.

Blue has written a Farscape ghost story that is really scary mystery called Hot Water.

Angela wrote a wonderful hurt/comfort story featuring a really cool alien called ...Into the Blue.

Sunshiner adds to the genre with the ultimate Aeryn coming to terms with the death of TJohn and her relationship with MJohn in Louder Than Words. Sunshiner also wrote a Dog with Two Bones-timed piece that is very haunting and bothersome, yet true to John's mood during that time called After Never Too Late.

Orchidcactus has written a DWTB fic that is dark, painful, and has an ambiguous ending regarding drug addiction called Hold Out Your Hand. The second part is located here.

I had a memory of a fanfic about John's mind being frelled with one more time. I queried Kansas about it without result. I've been searching the Internet. I finally found it again. Invisiblescaper wrote the story called
It's Tough Being a Sebacean Look-Alike. It is a cute and well-written story using all of the Farscape crew. Very much like an extended episode. I'm glad I found it. I can stop obsessing. Another obsession solved thanks to Pareader. I read a story a long time ago about Aeryn and John and molestation by an alien farmer. It is called Hard Landing by CeRell. Very exciting story.

Donnie Thomas has written a Season 2 story that captures John's emotional state with violent results called Fragile is the Mind. This one has suicide warning.

I like an epic story about John and the UT called Paladin by S. Nankervis Trimmer because it shows the scientist and empathetic side of a more naive time.

Here's some more John hurt/comfort fiction to add to the mix. There are so many good stories out there that describe John's inner life and the hell of the UTs. Here are some more that I recently found. Some are old and some are new. All deal with angst and drama, and John.

Bob Hutchinson aka UCSBdad has written a spew-worthy comedy hurt/comfort John fic. Kaz states "Warning, Warning. Do Not have anything liquid near your keyboard when you read this story. Here is Crichton In Love.

Latescaper Takes on post Bad Timing with an interesting twist in Nonsense, part 1, Nonsense, part 2, Nonsense, part 3, Nonsense, part 4, conclusion

Twich has written a twisty, funny, scary story that works in all the characters. I'm not sure yet how hurt/comfort this is, but I love the story so I include it here. Casper F. Joke has written a lovely dual story concerning some stolen time while on Terra Firma. Although this isn't physical hurt/comfort, it is certainly mental hurt/comfort. Here's Stolen and the sequel Red Handed. The next story in the series is called How Do You Plead. She has continued the story with Ignorance is Bliss. The last story in the series is a doozy, bringing Aeryn and John through the end of Twice Shy.

Please bring a hanky to read On Parole. Casper then has continued the saga with Hollow. The final story that completes this emotional rollercoaster is called Resonant

Hannah Solo is a new writer of fan fiction who has created an early John fic that is very interesting in its use of religion. Read The Matorim Prophesy

Kixxa has the ultimate hurt/comfort John fic (I'm grinning again). This is strictly NC-17 and kinky as all get out, but fun. Read The Emperor's Arms She has also written a very twisty, frell your mind story of Grayza and John called Writing on Walls. If John Crichton was John Carter, this would be his Tutankamon's tomb in Complex 3000.

Anne Harrington (Annigmaniac) Wrote Bent which concerns a really badly broken John after DMD and Crais. this is definitely an AU fic.

KNS writes an exciting time travel story that twists the plot of John/Aeryn in the PKs and gives it a new meaning in A Matter of Trust, Part One: Time To Change and A Matter of Trust, Part Two: Changing Time.

Blueaeryn has started a new story about strange happenings aboard Moya. Be warned, this is very dark fict. Read Meeting the Darkness, Part 1, Meeting the Darkness, Part 2, Meeting the Darkness, Part 3, Meeting the Darkness, Part 4, Meeting the Darkness, Part 5 Finale

Amy Kemosaki was a high school student in 2000 when she wrote this epic story of John's survival and escape from Scorpius that takes place at the end of Season 2. This story is definitely AU but an amazing read from such a young author. Here's The Escape Amy has written another story called Out Of His Mind that posits another take on the end of Season 2. Very well written. Amy is now called Johnsgrl and wrote this interesting emotional John is hurt fic which I really liked. I hope it stays put because she posted it on the DOM. It is called The Healing Power, Chapter One, and The Healing Power, Chapter Two

Reefrunner has written a post-Bad Timing fic that posits an interesting alien behind the Scarran "intelligence" as well as a Farscapian honeymoon for John and Aeryn. I really enjoyed this page-turner called Honeymoon Part 2/6, Part 3/6, Part 4/6, Part 5/6, and Part 6/6.

Karolyn Gray wrote a very good post-Aurora Chair fic with a psychological bent. I feel this would fit well into the "canon." This Side of Paradise

Natalie Williams has written several good hurt/comfort fictions about John and Aeryn. This one is a shocker and rather final. Read Always

Kate wrote Dead Zone concerning John and Aeryn after Fractures that sees John getting ill and the resulting affect on Aeryn. Part 2 is located here.

Anne Hutchinson writes another "John goes home" fic but with a twisty difference. I have read this one over and over, it is so good. It is called Figment.

Adam Ashmore writes a take off of that old movie/novel stand-by the human being hunted like prey, called Prey. This is a great adventure where you can feel John sweat.

Imloco2writes with much feeling about John and Aeryn during the time of Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. This story is AU called Healing Touch, Part 1 and Healing Touch, Part 2

Diene Writes a Season 2 fic that posits an interesting take on Scorpy and John called Time Keeps Slipping.

Felicity writes a lovely combination John goes home/post DMD anst called The Dream of Her.

Shaye What a love story, beyond death--Shaye has written a post DMD love story called Never, Ever, and Always. Shaye has also written a disturbing sound poem about John at the end of Liars, Guns, and Money--Plan B called Theater of the Mind: Chaos. Shaye writes what is in the heart. This story is definitely AU, and written from an outside point of view--a what if called Nothing Lasts Forever.

Ennix Sun has written a dark fic that posits that TJohn didn't die and came back to Moya with Aeryn, madness proceeds to happen in Final Testament.
